DAY CAMP

Day Camp is for rising Kinder, First and Second Grade girls

 Monday -Thursday, 9:00 - 4:30; Friday 9:00 - Noon

Rocky River Ranch is located in the heart of the Texas hill country in the quaint village of Wimberley on the Blanco River. RRR has been growing independent girls since 1953 and continues that tradition with our Day Camp. Day campers will get a taste of the same camp magic as our overnight campers while experiencing special programs just for them. They will create memories that will last a life time led by our highly trained staff. Campers will be introduced to our long- held traditions, songs, classes, and games while preparing them for overnight camp.

The format of each week will be the same and the daily schedule will not change. In addition, during Sessions 1 and 2 the girls will be doing the same crafts and theme day and during Sessions 3 and 4 the girls will be doing the same crafts and theme day. While we know each session will be filled with new friends and fun experiences, we just wanted to make sure you have all of this information in case you feel that your daughter will not enjoy the repeat activities and the same basic schedule from week to week.

Rocky River Ranch experience

Rocky River Ranch is like my second home. It is such a comfortable, fun place to be! I am planning to be here as long as possible, and want my future daughters and granddaughters to experience this camp. Rocky River has a special place in my heart, and is a big part of my life.

‒  Molly Morgan Years at camp: 2001-2005

I would not be the person I have become today if it were not for Skeet and Sandy. One of the biggest lessons I ever learned in life was from Sandy — I fell off a horse and Sandy made me get right back on. I had no idea what impact that lesson would mean to my life, but I have to say it has become one of the most valuable.

‒  Beth Boykin Huddle Years at camp: 1976-1980

I loved my counselors, I loved the river, and even learned how to sail on Canyon Lake. I still sing all the old camp songs that we sang every day after lunch to my little girl, who's five, every night before bed. I always end with, 'I love the mountains, I love the rolling hills ...' and then Taps.

‒  Shannon McCann Years at camp: 1966-1975

I loved performing on stage and modeling in the fashion show. I learned how to shoot a bow and arrow, and how to do synchronized swimming. I wrote a 'Snoopy' column for the newspaper. In fact, a lot of the things I loved then are things I still love today.

I think camp was very beneficial for my daughter last year. She came home with new experiences that she will never forget. It's something that she is able to share with her friends and schoolmates too. It made a huge impact on her and I hope by going again this year that she continues to grow and mature as a thoughtful young lady.

I am still amazed and in awe of the subtle and mysterious way that simple activities and experiences weave together to leave an indelible impression of love ... confidence ... appreciation. They seem so simple there in the moment ... the singing of camp songs, Friendship Circle at the end of an evening program, the Cowpoke/Wrangler drawing, saddling a horse for the first time, scooting down the rapids ... but each song, with each tug on the halter rope, with each stroke of the canoe oar, with each ring of "Goodnight, campers!" a new brush of color is being painted on her childhood experience. From those "colors" spring forth amazing women as evidenced by the many remarkable people that now call themselves Rocky River alumni.
